OPHEO Digitizes Transport Logistics At Building Materials Forwarder "Die Baustofflogistiker"

The service provider specializing in the transport of ready-mixed concrete, bulk cargo, and steel “Die Baustofflogistiker” (the building materials logistician) will be dispatching its more than 220 trucks with the integrated digital transport control center and telematics system OPHEO. Each day, around 1,000 local and long-distance tours shall be created, assigned and monitored with the help of the software developed by initions AG. The rollout of the software is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

The OPHEO modules Dispatching Cockpit, Fleet and Personnel, as well as telematics system OPHEO MOBILE will be used. The forecast function, for which initions received the Telematik-Award, will be playing a central role in this process. The forecast function allows dispatchers to see several hours into the future by calculating and displaying the expected further course of current and subsequent tours. Dispatchers can therefore identify several hours in advance whether shipments will be delayed or delivery windows can no longer be met.

“By using OPHEO, we are systematically pursuing digitization, which is already common practice in other logistics sectors today. This exact control, the traceability and the transparency of all processes offer a decisive added value to our customers and to us,” Tobias Miethke explains. He is the General Project Manager at “Die Baustofflogistiker” and controls the rollout of new IT systems. According to him, OPHEO shall allow for even more efficient monitoring of the legal driving and rest times and relieve the dispatchers from routine activities.

Die Baustofflogistiker specialize in the transport of fresh concrete, bulk materials and steel and have more than 25 years of experience in this field. The Berlin, Germany-based company provides services for the entire logistics chain including cargo handling, warehousing, scheduling and personnel management.
